Objectives
The original idea was for a dozen people and £10,000 to paint and clean parts of St Luke's Hospital and provide 80 new matresses. In the end, a team of 26 worked from two to three weeks.

Aged from 11 to 70, what we lacked in experience we made up for in enthusiasm and ability to plan and organise teams. By the end of the project up to 100 people were working on the many tasks around the site, the majority reporting to the team but there were also a number of contractors for contruction, electrics and plumbing. Thanks to a £15,000 grant from Jersey Overseas Aid, active fund raising, generous gifts and trusts, we could spend over £50,000 on the hospital.
A new doctor (Dr Ringera) had been appointed shortly before our arrival, The hospital had had no oxygen for two years and his buildings and grounds were looking rather tired. They certainly did not inspire confidence. It was a pleasure to leave him with clear, freshly-painted buildings with new lighting, a refurbished operating theatre, oxygen and a new laundry with HOT water! What was equally important was a renewed sense of confidence that they had a hospital they could be proud of.
